I went to see Jon “Maddog” Hall yesterday 5/17/07 at DeVry University
enjoyed hearing his tales about the early days of computers, programming, and
the internet. I especially enjoyed his
stories of young programmers that are making a difference in the world
today. He told a tale of being at a computer show and hearing a young voice loudly arguing with two adults. It turned out to be an eleven year old boy agruing with two engineers about how super computers should be programmed; the two engineers were wrong and the eleven year boy was right! He also shared an interesting story
about the time he visited the University of the South Pacific in
them a CD with an early Linux distro on it.
He told the Comp Sci director that everything they needed to teach Comp
Sci was on that CD. The Philadelphia soft pretzels they severed were awesome plus I got Maddog to sign my current issue of Linux Journal, what more could I ask for!
